Switchfoot originally consisted of:Jon Foreman,Tim Foreman,and Chad Butler in early 2003 before the release of the beautiful letdown Jerome Fontamillas joined.prior to the release of 2005s nothing is sound it was announced that Drew Shirley would be joining the band also.
Jonathan mark Foreman
Jonathan mark Foreman is the co founder and lead singer of switchfoot. He was born October 22,1976 in San Bernardino county California,but his family then moved to Massachusetts and Virginia Beach during his childhood. After moving to Encinitas in North County San Diego in his junior high years, he went to Torrey Pines High School in Carmel Valley, California, and he became fast friends with Todd Cooper who encouraged him to learn guitar.Cooper was later a guitar tech for Switchfoot, eventually leaving in 2005 to pursue his own musical career.He attended UC San Diego and later dropped out to follow his singing career.Like the rest of the Switchfoot band members, one of Foreman's favorite pastimes is surfing. When not on tour he lives in San Diego, California with his wife, Emily Foreman.Besides being the main songwritter for Switchfoot, he has also made musical contributions away from the band, including collaborations with Mandy moore (for her movie A walk to remember), San Diego/Orange County based singer-songwriter Molly Jenson , and Noise Ratchet. Foreman has also contributed to the books The Art of Being and New Way to be Human, the latter written by producer.
Foreman has also worked on a solo project of his own. On August 10, he revealed via his blog that he was independently releasing four EPs, titled Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer.He also released "limbs and brances".it contains all of the best sons from the four ep's plus two new songs.In january of 2009 he will be releasing a fiction family cd.Fiction family is a collaboration between him and sean watkins.
Timothy David Foreman
Timothy David Foreman (born August 15,1978) is the bassist for the band Switchfoot. He was born in LakeArrowhead,California but grew up in Boston,Massachusetts and Norfolk,Virgina. He and his family later moved to San Diego,California, where he now resides with his wife Andrea (whom he married in 2001) and their son, born in April 2005.He graduated from San Digeuito Academy in 1997, where he graduated under the title of 'Scholar Athlete' for his high achievements in surfing and education. He is the youngest member of Switchfoot at 30; their first album The Legend of Chin was released only four days after he graduated high school. His brother Jon Foreman is the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for Switchfoot. He has also cowritten a number of Switchfoot's songs along with Jon.
Chad Matthew Butler
(born in Amsterdam, Netherlands on March 24, 1974), is the drummer for the band Switchfoot which he co-founded along with Jon and Tim Foreman in 1996. Chad lived in Amsterdam for a few years, but he and his family later moved to San Diego,California where he now lives with his wife Tina (who he married in 1999), his two sons, Evan (born in 2001) and Dylan, and his daughter, Charlotte (born in summer of 2007).
Jerome Earl Fontamillas
He was Born june 20,1976 . Jerome has played in several bands notably with Mortal and Fold Zandura, with long time musical partner Jyro xhan.Fontamillas would continue to play with Mortal until 1996 and played in Fold Zandura (also with Jyro) between 1995 and 1999. He currently plays with alternative rock band Switchfoot as a guitar and keyboard player. In 1985 Fontamillas Graduated from Monteray Bay academy in Watsonvaille, CA..
In 2000, Fontamillas quit his day job and ended up joining and touring with Switchfoot shortly after the release of their third album, Learning to Breathe. His first release with Switchfoot was their 2003 release, The Beautiful Letdown. In 2002 Jyro and Fontamillas released a Mortal reunion album called Nu-En-Jin. He married his wife Kristi in December of 2005.
Andrew Shirley
(born April 3, 1974) is a guitarist and the newest member of the rock band Switchfoot. Shirley attended California Baptist University studying a Fine Arts degree with a Music minor. During that time he also started and led the Chapel Worship Team and the Thursday Night Live Bible Study. He had only started playing guitar as a senior in high school. After graduating from college, he also began working with Youth for Christ as the Riverside area Campus Life director. He started touring with Switchfoot soon after their 2003 release The beautiful letdown. He has recorded two albums with the band, his first, Nothing is sound, and his second Oh!Gravity. Before joining Switchfoot, Shirley played lead guitar in the Christian rock band All Together Separate. He lives with his wife, Jenna, and their daughter, Lauren. During his 2007 tour with the band, he tripped on the stage and became the first member of Switchfoot to ever trip during a concert. He is known for his phrase "Sorry I'm awesome" by Switchfoot fans and for his guitar solos.
